MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich told the ONT TV channel what conditions should be in place in order to launch the Minsk-Vladivostok flight, BelTA reports.
The launch of a direct flight between Minsk and Russia’s Vladivostok was announced following the meeting of the High-Level Group of the Belarus-Russia Union State Council of Ministers in Mogilev on 29 September. “We agreed to consider subsidizing this route from the Union State budget. If this option gets the go-ahead, then the flight will become a reality,” said Aleksei Lyakhnovich.
The minister was also asked whether Belavia was able to make up for the discontinuation of flights in the western direction. “Sanctions are sanctions, but the airline operates steadily and at a profit today. The flights to Murmansk have opened this year. The new routes include destinations not only in Russia. For example, Belavia started flying to India,” he noted.
