Increase in the incidence of ARVI and influenza continues in Kyrgyzstan. Sultan Abdykadyrov, Director of the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of the Ministry of Health, told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, compared with the previous week, the number of cases has more than tripled.

«At least 44,106 cases of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza were registered from December 12 to December 18. There were 14,078 cases last week. It should be noted that 72.6 percent of all cases are in children under 14 (32,026),» he said.

Speaking about the incidence of influenza, Sultan Abdykadyrov noted that type A / H1N1 (swine flu) prevails now.

«This week it made up 96 percent. It is severe, often gives complications, it is more contagious and spreads faster. Therefore, we urge you to get a flu vaccine, it provides protection against three types of this disease,» he said.

The official added that it was still premature to say when the incidence would decline.

«According to the multi-year dynamics, growth usually occurred at the end of December, and the peak was at the end of January. This year, the seasonal rise began in early December. There is hope that the imposed restrictions in schools will lead to a decline. We will continue to monitor the situation. So far, there is little data for analysis. To trace the dynamics, we need at least a month,» he added.

Sultan Abdykadyrov did not rule out the possibility of extension of the quarantine measures (online learning) in schools until the end of the second quarter.
